Lake Worth, FL Air Conditioning Repair & Service
Lake Worth takes its name from a body of water at its eastern border known as Lake Worth Lagoon. The city’s first settlers were Fannie and Samuel James. Fannie James was the city’s first postmaster who also operated a small goods shop. Development grew after Henry Flagler built his rail line from Miami to West Palm Beach in 1896. Many farmers from the mid-west migrated to Lake Worth to benefit from being able to grow vegetables year-round. Life was good in Lake Worth during the 1920s, and the area benefited from the Florida land boom. Casinos, beach complexes and the historic Gulf Stream Hotel were constructed during this time period. During the latter part of the 1920s, the 1928 Hurricane and the Great Depression led to economic decline in the community. Development began again after World War II. Many army personnel and pensioners from Germany and Finland migrated to the area. This new wave of immigrants brought a spirit of entrepreneurism with them and constructed shops, restaurants and churches. Even today, one can still find the area’s original chocolatiers, Lutheran churches and Bavarian delis.
